Congress introduces bills to lower cost of drugs and get them out sooner

ON 2/5/19, 2 pieces of legislation were introduced in the Senate and House to promote competition in the market for drugs and biological products by facilitating the timely entry of lower-cost generic and biosimilar versions of those drugs and biological products.

In the Senate, S. 340 CREATES Act of 2019 was introduced 2/5/19. It currently has 27 Co-sponsors (11 Republicans & 16 Democrats). It's clearly going to be ongoing legislation and already has a companion bill in the House.

The companion house bill is HR 965 CREATES Act of 2019. Currently there are only 7 co-sponsors (5 Republicans & 2 Democrats). The purpose to reduce the cost of drugs and get them out sooner.
